Articles of Incorporation

Our Articles of Incorporation were accepted by the Iowa Secretary of State Office effective
July 12, 2006.

 

MARCUS HISTORICAL SOCIETY
ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION

Pursuant to Iowa Code 504.202

 

ARTICLE I:

The name of this organization shall be the Marcus Historical Society. 

ARTICLE II:

The principal office of this organization shall be 222 N. Main Street, Marcus, Cherokee County, Iowa.  The registered agent at that office is Rod Ogren.

ARTICLE III:

This organization is being registered and incorporated by Rod Ogren, 222 N. Main Street, PO Box 88, Marcus, IA 51035 and June Dias, 400 N Linn Street, PO Box 642, Marcus, IA 51035. 

ARTICLE IV:

The purpose of this organization shall be to preserve for public benefit, education and enjoyment, the historical heritage of our community.

ARTICLE V:

Any person regardless of age, or residence, may become a member.  Said member pledges to help further the purpose of the Marcus Historical Society.  Membership is non-discriminatory.

ARTICLE VI:

Should the Marcus Historical Society at any time permanently cease to function, assets shall be distributed for one or more exempt purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or shall be distributed to the federal government, or to a state or local government, for a public purpose.

ARTICLE VII:

The Marcus Historical Society will operate within the accords of Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)3 for the purpose of maintaining not-for-profit status as a charitable organization.
